What do you Bongo Boys think about the bad effect that girlfriends of band members have on the band? Face it; girlfriends and bands don't mix!

They get anywhere near and cause problems. There you are, having a great time, just you, the band and the music - someone brings their other half and things start to slip.

The chemistry goes, as she tells him what to do, or causes hassle amongst the other girlfriends - then its an ongoing soap opera (in an Eastenders stylee).

So come on guys, lets hear your horror stories! (and stop going doe eyed over some Bongo in a bass shop)

Ah yes, they mix - like oil and water!

When I was playing in bars, every (and I mean EVERY) fight was caused by two or more drunk women. And that was pretty much every night we played.

Remember Derek St Hubbins and his girlfriend in Spinal Tap:
- Are you doing the new album in Dobly?
- And the astrological "new direction" the band was going to go in?

The Slippery Slope

This is a fact - bands make them go bonkers!

You suddenly find you pal in the band, more subdued at rehearsals. Shes got to him. Then he's told to make suggestions about what music you should play, etc.

I agree with the St. Hubbins analogy totally.

And if someone on here complains about this thread to the moderator; you know why? he's been told by his girlfriend to complain. He's pussy-whipped!

Girlfriends Anonymous

So true!

Yoko was the role model for every scheming minx that ever tried to come between a musician and his band.

In fact I recommend total celibacy - abstain and concentrate on your right hand technique! Live without them altogether. All that money you save on Birthday, Valentines and Xmas presents gets you a nice new Boingo (wow, would love one of those puppies!)

In fact, when it comes to girlfriends - just say no! I mean, look at all the guys on here that are too scared to comment also. If their girlfriends caught them posting a reply here, that would be it - they'd be wearing their balls for earrings!

But lets stick together and present a united front on this. Offer support to your fellow sufferer. Help him kick the habit - he's better off with a crack pipe and a copy of Razzle!

Regards

I can say for sure that sleeping with the drummer's wife, even though she is VERY hot and was the one to suggest it, is pretty much a bad idea.

on the flipside, my wife has always been good at making sure the gigs I play are worth taking time away from the family.... and the sex is great so I'm gonna have to be pro-fems on this one fellers.

our guitarist was complaining about sore hands one day. we finally got it out of him that the cause was a lengthy footrub he administered to his woman the night before. oh, the things we do for our women...

Coming Clean

Time to come clean about this wind-up. Its great to see more female musicians around.

Check out Meshell Ndegeocello for great song writing and classy bass work!
