A small time "builder" here in Norway offers a "Ray copy" - most probably a nonsense bass just looking like a Ray.

Does EBMM follow up on such? In case, whom should I send more info to? Didn't find a contact form on the site.

best,
bert

It would be a trademark. In a recent case involving Fender it was determined that the body shape can't be trademarked, but the headplate shape can.

The headplate has been left out of this photo, so there's no way to see whether it actually infringes.

Is there an echo in here?

This was hard for me to understand, ultra short as it was, and me not only being unintelligent, but also not a native English speaker.
However, I have deciphered it and ask for forgiveness on my bare knees.

I now found the other thread as well as the e-mail address to report the copy to.
Since this seller persistently does not show the headstock (I can see two obvious reasons), I can say no more about this. Under Norwegian law he would hang, but I suppose we're dealing with international law here and binational treaties.

best,

I've seen these basses online before. The price is around 1/3 of that of an EBMM SR, and I expect the quality to correspond to that.

Here is a picture that shows the headstock.

And while we're at it: On fleabay you can apprantly Build your own Stingray!! Price reduced by $25 because of ... a slightly twisted neck.

Then there's this, this, this and this on the Norwegian ebay.... "curiously", while the seller is from USA, the items don't show up on ebay.com, only on ebay.no.

At least this guy is being up-front about it being a copy and where it's from, apparently it's NOS. Maybe leftovers from an earlier lawsuit?
