With my gear, that is.

I went downstairs this morning while the rest of the family was sleeping, sat on the floor and pulled out my BD Sterling and began to play unplugged. I was facing my stack of EBMM cases and my Phil Jones amps and cabs, marvelling not only on the great collection of gear I was looking at - but how great the Sterling sounded unplugged.

Then it (blue)dawned on me - for the first time in a long time, I didn't have a bass or anyother gear on order.

Could I actually be content with what I have? Do I completely lack GAS? This feels very strange.

That is all.

I was thinking about this the other day...I've never owned more than one bass at a time and up until about a month ago, I couldn't imagine needing or even wanting to own more than one at a time. It baffled me why a lot of knuckleheads have so many basses.

For about the last month I've been planning my next purchases...Sterling 5 HS, then a Bongo 5 H. I'm beginning to see it, but I still can't say that I understand.

You're not content. You're GAS is just in hibernation until the '08s are announced.

Me, I still want to order like, 4 different musicman basses. My first EB bass (DD Stingray) has me wanting to buy a bongo, a sterling, and another couple stingrays. But i'm fighting off the urge, because depending on what is offered in '08, I may be able to buy two EBMM basses (And I know what i'll be ordering if they're available to me) that are not currently offered.

If what is released isn't available to me, then i'll let the GAS take over once again. :D

I'm with ya on this one. I was just thinking that I had everything I could ever want in basses. Stacks of EBMM gear, a couple of Steinys, an 8-string, an upright.......

I even thought about thinning the herd a bit and just keeping one model of each.

I would still like a yellow Sterling. But until BP approves Crayola colors, I'll just have to deal with it.... :)

And I have the Stealth Bongo coming from Pete.

But to be honest, there's not much else out there that I want.

Maybe I am content as well?

Maybe so! We'll see what the LE is for 2008!

Well, high-GAS season happens in January after NAMM. So, I expect you to get the GAS back around then. It's possible that some GAS could come towards the end of this month too.

Maybe some day, but not today. Of course I don't have the equipment list most you content guys have either. I hoping in a few years I will settle back down. I'm blaming my G.A.S. on mid life crisis that is under funded. :p

GAS goes into remission, but it never goes away. There's always going to be something new to obsess over. Maybe it'll be next year's LE, or a Bongo 6, or a BFR (I'm patiently waiting for a BFR Bongo, myself). There will be future anniversary models, and who knows what else. Enjoy your contentment while it lasts.

Get in line.

While we're camped out waiting for the ticket window to open, here's some torture:

A Mahongo would be SO nice. Of course, there's no telling what a BFR Bongo might actually be like, or even if one will ever be offered. All depends on the whims of the Ball Collective.

Pass that thermos of coffee, willya? Thanks.
