Can you tell me what the E-to-E spacing at the nut is, precisely?

Please indicate whether you measured outside the strings or middle of the E string.

That would be much appreciated.

Yes. I know the nut width and need to know string spacing.

To put a bit more background: I am still trying to find a Music Man guitar I can play. I cannot play 41mm nuts. At some point in the past I bought the only Music Man guitar that has a wider nut - a JP6. Only to find out that although the nut was wider the string spacing at the nut was right back at being too narrow. At the time I rage-sold the guitar to some very lucky buyer (should have seen the birdseye on that one) instead of doing what I should have done, which is make a new nut with a normal string spacing for a 43mm nut.

I would really like to know what the spacing is, exactly.

Going from center to center of the nut slot, mine looks like 35.5mm - 36 from far side to far side of the slots

OK...JP6 BFR. Using digital caliper as accurate as I can. All dims mm.

Overall nut width 43.21 tapers to top of nut edge radius approx 42.77
That 42.77 across top of nut measures...
Edge to CENTRELINE of string slots ie C/L of string NOT edges of slot or between strings. Then distance to C/L of next string slot

Edge to low E C/L 3.85
A 6.95
D 7.05
G 7.05
B 7.10
high E 7.10
to bottom edge of nut 3.67

Which should add up to the 42.77

Make sense ? Hope this helps.
Cheers Baz

Hmmm, weird. That matches e.g. a 57 AVRI Strat which I can play. I wonder whether the nut on my old Petruchiccu was overly hand-made.
