I have a 1979 StingRay bass. I started noticing a "buzz" in the tone of the bass. It sounded like I had a "fuzz" pedal on. At first I thought it was my amp, so I took the bass to the store to try out some new amps. It did the same thing in the store, so I bought a new bass (a Sterling).

I took the Stingray in to have it looked at. The guy at the shop told me the "circut board is cracked", and that he can't fix it!

Anyone have any take on this? Know where I could find a new circut board??? Preferably a '79 circut board. OR do you think this dealer is on crack?? Any idea what could be causing the buzz??

Any help would be great!!

Thanks!

DGM,

Can you do me a favour please. You obviously have access to the pre amp circuit board. If it's not covered in black epoxy, can you advise me of the value of the 2 electro capacitors on the top, right hand side of the circuit board....they are round components covered with blue plastic....their value will be in uf (micro farrads)...eg....."47uf 12Volt".

Cheers.

P.S. Has the pre amp prob been fixed? If not, I could guide you through it.

First of all, yes.. I have tried several fresh new batteries.

Second, I am not much of a tech! I had the bass looked at by a very proffesional tech. He is the one who told me the circut board is cracked. I don't even know where the board is in the bass.

I'd be happy to get some help on this issue. I'm willing to crack open the bass and have a look around, just need to know where to look! Anyone willing to help, feel free to post here, or email me:
