Hey guys,

I have a question regarding the JP6 Trem. I took my guitar out of its case today after a few days and when I use the trem bar, I'm hearing creaky noises and these get amplified too! How do I take care of this? Would oiling the trem springs help? It's really getting to me since I use the trem bar quite a bit in my playing.

The last time I played (before the creaky noises reared up their ugly heads) I was learning "Whispering a Prayer" by Steve Vai and I will admit to quite a bit of trem bar abuse. (especially pushing the bar down silently to lower the pitch by an octave and then striking a note and bringing it back to the normal position and pulling up 2 steps...I know..I can be twisted at times :D) How much of this type of abuse can the JP6 trem take? Any comments or suggestions welcome!! Thanks!

Put some cottonballs or paper towel in the trem cavity around and over the springs....works for Vai works for me....

Thanks OC. I will try that. I hope I haven't worn out my knife edges in the space of 3 months!!

Nah not the knifes bro....just the springs resonating...sometimes that will go away with use as they get broken in...all of my guitars do that, it;s all about stuffing it unobtrusively...

Stuffing did not help at all :( but it helped make some of the noises go away. I'm probably doing it wrong anyway. The metallic creak is still ever present. I wonder if it is the trem bar. Will try a drop of 3 in 1 oil in the hole for the trem bar now :)

I've seen it done where they take the foam that comes in the package when you buy pickups (Seymour Duncan's etc.) and wedge that foam *behind* the trem springs, i.e. as you look in from the back of the guitar, the foam goes under the springs.

That works as does good old weather stripping from home depot...I did the SD foam trick under the AXIS pups in my MD JP6

Thanks Jon, Steve, OC. I will work on the guitar this weekend. I'll also be changing the strings. Hopefully that might help too :)
