Hello all. Well with the announcement of pregnant wife I totally forgot to add the photos of my Cuba trip.
It seriously was a blast and very educational too - factories and plantation visits. Smoked some stunning cigars including this year's limited releases...if you can get them look out for the Romeo y Julietta short churchill...lovely.
However I will let the pictures speak for themselves. It is truly a stunning country:D

I hope this link works - never used this photobucket thing before.

Nice, very nice.
I'm so in the mood for a cuban cigar on a white beach.
Thanks.

<BOASTING>

We've got the whitest beaches in the country. They look like snow drifts.....

Gotta have a Bushwacker while you're here though.......

Great photos, Rob. I'd love to see the rest of Cuba, the real Cuba.

I've only been through Guantanamo. I've seen most of the rest of the Caribbean.

Ah well, someday when Castro is dead and buried, maybe.

Gitmo's got some of the best scuba diving of the northern hemisphere. Kind of a hairy plane ride in though.........Coming in Haze Gray is easier on the stomach. :D

I don't like to think about flying in to Gitmo. I was always haze gray, as they say, when I visited.

Oooo! The bad old days.

Thanks Rob!

I really enjoyed the pics. I would like to see Cuba sometimes but there's this nasty embargo thing that the US has going on. I've had a couple of chances to go while I was out of the country, but I didn't chance it.

Those Cuban chicks can really shake their money makers can't they. A resort I stayed in in Jamaica one time brought in a Cuban dance troup for the nightly entertainment one night and those girls were flat out se-xy!

I need to go smoke a cigar now.

I always wondered why if Cuba was so bad Gitmo existed?
The pics didn't show people that looked all that unhappy to me.

I assume Gitmo is the American base? IT one of those wonderful things with Castro.....he lets the American Government rent the area.....and who says capitalism is dead?
Yeah the place is crumbling bit by bit, apparently two buildings a week collapse - that said the health care system is impressive.
THanks for the comments guys - for those American smokers out there next time y ou hit the UK look me up and I will show you some cigars you are missing.....boy are you missing some good stuff. (I know there are black channels but still.....)
THe peopel are not that unhappy but they still have rationing. Can you imagine getting 4 years for simply buying beef on the black market? (it was something to do with a shortage and has just continued).
The Cuban women and dancing are just something to behold - stunning. Although Cuba as a destination to pick up women has changed slightly after Fidel introduced a rule that if a Cuban woman is caught with a Western bloke she gets 20 years!!! Harsh. He is trying to stop the country becoming a sex tourism place.
All that said it was a great trip - same again next year........

Hey thanks for sharing those. You have a good eye for a photograph!

Cheers mate - comes from working first as a scenes of crime photographer and then press for ages.....just loved being there. It was about one photo every two seconds sooooo much to see and be inspired by.

Hi Rob.

Myself & 7 friends back-packed Cuba in 2001. Loved it.

Upside - Havana Club at $2 a bottle and cigars about 20c each
Downside - there not always being enough food for 8 of us and having to go hungry

Great country, but it'll change once Fidel goes, for better or worse who knows......

It's politics (desire for control and power) and money (greed) that are keeping us from visiting that country like any other country. If a country doesn't want to be bothered with the US, it is perceived as a threat. Since Fidel is not allowing the US to exploit his country with its capitalism (i.e. American-owned casinos, McDonalds, Wal-Mart, etc.), all of these stupid sanctions and restrictions are put on it. The US (I think) has done nothing but try to intimidate and harrass Cuba, and I applaude that tiny country for sticking up for themselves... Like the story of David and Goliath.

Thanks for sharing Rob. Maybe one day I'll get to visit there.
