Hey guys,

I got a Ghost piezo system fitted to my LUKE - fantastic !! I can't wait to try it at a rehearsal !! God i'm loving this guitar.

Quick question.. i'm sure some of you are David Gilmour fans as much as I am, and would know that he has all his guitars' tremolo arms cut down in length to make it easier to have the arm sitting under the little finger while still playing reasonably normally.

Well, I want that! Any of you know how/where/what I can do to make that happen? It's not as simple as just cutting the end off, as they have a bend in them... to do it requires chopping a section out from the middle and re-welding back together. I'm curious if there's any suppliers that manufacture them... especially now that the David Gilmour signature models are out and have it.

I'm also keen to get hold of a tremolo arm similar to my deluxe strat for my LUKE - they don't have the black plastic end piece, they're just a nicely finished piece of steel (similar to what ibanez, esp, etc often use). Anyone know of any like that which would fit the Ernie Ball trem arm socket?

Cheers
Dave

Gilmour trem bar

Did you ever find a source of the chopped off tremolo bar? Can't seem to find one on the internet.

I know a bit about welding and I think that if you cut a piece out of the middle and weld them together it's going to be very difficult to get it completely straight without having a jig which holds the two pieces in place so they don't move.

You could get a replacement strat trem arm and cut it yourself or make it completely from scratch. You'd need access to a metal shop to do that if you don't have the equipment yourself.

Cut the end off and re-bend the whole thing. If it's for a strat, you can buy the shortened arms, a Google search will tell you where from.

You'll probably have to take the tip off, cut the arm to length you want, then rebend the shorter arm to your liking. But I have no idea how the tip is connected, if it's threaded or just a slip-on. Maybe just cut off the tip and the length would be close. Use a good fine file to clean up the cut end. It'll take some heat to bend it and might discolor the metallic surface.

Also on that website there is a note that says:

We're working on manufacturing the American Fender Deluxe pop-in style tremolo arms very soon. We will offer these in the shortened 4¼" length. We'll post an update just as soon as these pop-in arms become available.

wonder if the F pop-ins are compatible???

The tip is threaded. I know for sure, cause mine is missing :p
Never got around to getting a replacement tip, so I just wrapped some gaffer tape around the threads :D
