Hey all
After some advice. Love my Musicman cutlass, it’s a great guitar but -

The battery box has just broken which is really annoying. The hinged part that swings over the back of the 9v battery has snapped.

Any advice on finding a new one in the UK? Having issues finding one.

Anyone also know a good place to get a replacement pickguard? As I also want to look into loading a separate guard with passive pickups as relying on the preamp which must have a battery to work is really annoying. Find it hard to trust now I’ve had one break!

Thanks for any advice and help all:)

Sorry to hear about this problem. Did you try Strings and Things? They are the EBMM distributor in your region.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

Hi, thx for the reply. Yes, I’ve emailed them and am waiting for a reply. The website appears to say they supply ‘retail’ customers though so will wait and see if they come back to me.

Strings and Things should be able to help you. [email protected] is the address Music Man customer service have recommeneded here in the past. But the Gotoh BB-04 battery box is (I think) a drop-in replacement (it certainly was on older instruments). Measure up your existing box and check against the dimensions here BB-04 - G-GOTOH
Just checked out the dimensions and the gotoh BB-04 and 02 are not correct. The width on these is 29 mm and length 70. Mine is more like 32 and 77. I’ll continue looking and hope Strings n Things do get back to me at some point.

Only issue with Strings and Things is that they are a trade supplier and don’t sell to the general public. 3CB2DF7B-2007-4053-8BD3-750DD1D932D8.jpeg

True, Strings & Things will not sell instrument to the public but as I said Music Man customer service themselves have recommended contacting Strings & Things in the past for warranty and parts issues. You can also call Music Man customer service directly yourself and ask them. They may be able to supply you the part you need.

In case this thread comes up in searches in the future, that particular 9V battery box is for EBMM instruments that do not have the logo on the battery door (roughly pre-2013).
