I was just wondering if you have had issues of snapback when using
the D-Tuna on the body with a Floyd Rose system? Has it been hard enough to dent or damage the body of the guitar, and do you use the trem differently due to it's design? I'm also an Ibanez user, so I'm used to being able to raise and lower the trem within the cavity. I just bought a Pacific
Blueburst Axis and was thinking about the "tuna" and its practicality.

When I had my Axis I have installed one to try and never faced any problem with it, but i never abuse the trem so I might not be a good example :p

as you have noticed the Floyd is not recessed on the Axis so few chance that what you describe may happen

If it is properly set up at the time of a string change, your D-tuna should not be in danger of coming in contact with the top of your guitar. But it is a danger if you don't set it up right to begin with and perhaps adjust it after the strings stretch a little bit.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for responding hbucker - Can't wait to post up pictures of
the guitar!

I have several guitars all with DT's.

It can be very close of some guitars, and sometimes it's hard to actually engage the DT because you want to "pull it out" without scratching the top of the guitar body.

I'm so used to pulling out the DT now (I allow just a micro downward force when pulling it out), that it actually wouldn't matter even if I had 5 inches between the guitar top and the DT, I would still only bring it down a hair while pulling it out.

Also, I've never had to "groove" a guitar top yet to allow for the DT.

I recently picked up a D-Tuna for my Axis, but I wasn't able to get it working with either of the included screws. I do use 11's for standard E, so maybe you have to use 10's or 9's?

Either way, it wasn't worth the effort. I have an Axis SS that I can always take down to drop D if I so choose.

On a side note, if anyone is looking for a D-Tuna that was used less than an hour.... :)

I've had a D-tuna on my Axis for years and it works amazingly well. I will second the comment that you need to adjust it from time to time to keep it doing it's job properly. And be careful with the fine tuners and not cranking down on the low E since, in my exp with the Axis, is the only way your gonna get into the body with the D-tuna.

I have never had any problem with my D-tunas on any of my Axes, and I have had a few....

If the D-tuna is close enough to the top of the guitar to worry you, perhaps it is time to change the strings and do another set-up....
