why did you have to go and make the evh neck?!? Apparently its the only neck i feel comfortable playing now. Went to a few guitar stores these past couple days bc I'm in the market for a new guitar and had my eyes on an emerald PR$ cu$tom 24(yes I have big pockets for my neck guitar lol). Played it and couldnt believe how much I hated the feel of a finished neck, Plus it felt like a baseball bat in comparison to my EVH. Now Im torn bc I want to have a few different companies in the stable but Im in love with my evh neck...DAMN YOU!!

I absolutely hate the finishes On The back of Prs necks. I always take a little steel wool to them. Makes it better

if you play an original EVH neck for years, you´ll notice the difference to the Axis neck in two seconds and decide to pass on the Axis and watch out for a used EVH.
that´s the reason i sold my rosewood Axis and passed on a good deal of an trans amber Axis as well.
nothing feels like the original EVH necks!

but i discovered the Y2D back in 2006 and those necks feel great as well - not like an EVH, but i like it better as the Axis necks.

yea, i have to agree that the axis neck IS different. I think i may go the route of ordering a $hure modern with the evh neck carve as they can do it. However, looks like they may be backed up almost a year at this point. The Tributes are nice and I have been eyeing a green one that Im surprised hasnt sold yet due to the awesome quilt, However I was looking for different options. EBMM are great guitars dont get me wrong, but there are other companies out there also on top of the game. PLus, i desperately want another carved top guitar

Neck carves are exactly the same on EVH and Axis. If you wish to believe differently, that is your choice.

I can feel a distinct difference in my EVH & Tribute...............

Remember, ALL EBMM necks are hand sanded at the final stages. Every one is unique by definition. Sure they are very similar. I never could notice a difference when I had mine. They all felt so close. Maybe you all are more discerning than me or I just don't remember correctly (very possible!). In any event, I've yet to play an EBMM neck I didn't get along with, with the exception of the Luke. Just don't care for the V. Just a personal thing though.

I'm with Ozzy, and there is a difference. the neck is actually 1/32 smaller on the Evh than the Axis. I have 5 Evh's and 5 Axis's. The reason why they made it bigger on the Axis because they couldn't stop the E string from slipping off the neck...

It could also be that the neck on the EVH has just been played a ton and is more worn or "broken in," giving you a much different feel.

yeah I agree lessthan, I find myself taking some steelwool to some of my other finished non EBMM necks to get them to feel right! hee hee. I checked out the EBMM EVH they have in NYC at Ludlow guitars and it felt great too. I passed on it as it had a bit too many cosmetic issues for my liking and the price.

Although I also love my Axis Tribute the necks feel pretty different. Close, but as Lessthan said, not exactly the same.

Yep,
I heard that 1/32 difference drove EBMM crazy during production. It is definitely noticeable.

I heard through the grapevine that a cool guy name Tah-lee is selling a transparent black evh on this very forum!

Not because I don't like it, but I just need a little cash right now, and my other balls have been modified.

Tollie,

You get the email I sent you through the site yesterday? I'll be in contact by Monday if I don't find what I'm looking for in Dallas.

That's def a possibility. My AXIS (from what I was told here) was one of the first made. It's nice and broken in. I found a nice used one (practically brand new) at a GC a couple years back. And I HATED it. Didn't feel anything like mine.
