But POA you have the real deal!!!

Sure OLP's are cheaper, but the quality that you have is second to none!!!

What's better, 1 really great guitar or 5 so so guitars. I'll take the one.

Nice thought though.

OLP's are cool for the low, low prices they demand, but I have a feeling that the OLP Petrucci won't be quite the same value; in fact, I think the list is pretty high for a Chinese guitar! Having owned an OLP MM4 Silhouette copy, I can say that in my experience the OLP was NOTHING like the real thing - it's a decent guitar for the money, but when you have Music Man guitars around to play, it's doomed to be ignored...

Im interested in the new OLP thinbodies that they released at NAMM, they have an axis hollowbody and an acoustic as well, one is a 12 string, they look cool -

well, let me tell you a little about my background. im a 20 yr old college student. I had played a Petrucci Musicman at the HOuse of Guitars in Rochester the summer of my freshman year ( im now a junior) I loved it! i was freaking because i couldnt go home with it. I come from a family of low economic status... from age 8 till about a year and a half ago... we were on welfare. I couldnt imagine shelling out 1500+ for a guitar. I always managed to get amazing tone from "cheap" guitars(500$). Mind you i had a streak of good fortune when i scored a peavey 5150 for 300 bucks and a marshall 4x12 for 225$ both great condition too. thats besides the point...

I was jonesing for a petrucci for the past two years, and when i heard about OLP possibly making thier version of the Petrucci i was just estatic. I thought "sweet, i dont have to pay so much for the basic feel of the Petrucci"

but... in a little while i figured..."who knows when they are going to release it anyways... im sick of compromising... im just going for it. " and so i knew a guy up at the HOG and he told me just to give him a 100 bucks to get the ball rolling ( hahah pun) and so ive been paying it off... since the day after christmas. ive got 1200 to go... haha. so when i saw that they had released it so shortly after i started paying on the real deal, i was just kinda like "man..."

Its a strange sort of conflict to be in with oneself, if you know what i mean. being so restricted with money most of yoru life makes you feel guilty buying somthing so luxurious for yourself. Plus i hve been wanting to get a car... and ive been sorta wondering if things are going to work out since i went out on a limb trying to buy this sweet guitar. ... I guess i never really escaped the whole compromise thing... the compromise just sorta switched locations : P. oh well i guess you just gotta laugh about it... if you dont laugh your gonna cry hahah. do i sound twisted for a 20 year old? whatever...

so i guess i explained my comment from earlier...

God bless,

Tony

POA,

I haven't been exactly in your position, but I do understand.

I didn't get a really, really nice guitar (my Music Man Silhouette Special) until I was 38 with 2 kids.

This last purchase was a whim and probably my last for a very long time.

Don't worry about things will work out either way.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Your right laugh about it!! It feels good and no your not twisted for 20.

Make some money with it and then you can justify it.

Actually, a thin-line Axis 12 would be a guitar I'd be tempted to buy just for some jangley rhythm work, especially if it's less than $200...
