Hoping this isn't a taboo request but I have see other threads where this has been done so here goes.

My older Axis Sport is a fabulous player and all other components are great except for the finish that someone made a very poor attempt at relicing and it just cheapens the guitar so I think I have someone that will bring that back to near new condition and repaint. Now, I love the Dargie Green color and this is currently at the top of my list. 1st gen is fine. Not trying to pass it off as a genuine Dargie by any means but would love to closely approximate that original green metallic color as possible.

Has anyone found a paint color that is a very close match?

There was a thread in the last 4-6 weeks that had the names of the paint for both the 1st and 2nd Dargie runs, I believe. May have been in the bass forum, but I'm not certain. Just search for recent Dargie mentions.

I think this is what you're referring to:

Dargie I was Martini Olive Green
Dargie II was indeed Caramel Apple Delight

That's helpful for the EMBB designations but I am need an alternate, commercially available paint color that's a DD1 match if possible.

I actually believe Kiesel Racing Green with a bit of metal flake can get you close. Until EBMM gets on the ball and does another run. . . PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about it but I’m not really sure I have the tools, skills and patience to do it as well as it should be done.

Having painted a few cheapie guitars as an amateur, I'd send an EBMM to a pro. Two of mine turned out OK after a sand-down and try again on one, the third was a disaster. I wouldn't risk it with a nice guitar, at least on my (lack of) skills. :)

A good pro should be able to get close to the color match you want, too.

The third generation Dargie is available for sale right now.

My youngest son, Noah, has a second generation Dargie Delight Big Al and he was drooling over the new run.

Could be but the million dollar question is which one? Have you seen the options? So many and all with variations.

You should take it to a professional. There is a great deal of skill and dexterity behind painting a surface. It takes a true artist to achieve a decent result.
