yeah yeah, try taking it to the movies, I know.

But seriously, how can you use an EBMMs serial number to tell the year it was made? Some of the advice I've been give would indicate that my guitar (that I got used) is a '93 but that seems too early. It came with a product catalog that featured the Axis when it had no name (between teh EVH and Axis periods I presume) and has the old style case, schaller tuners and a 2 point music man bridge. Any help in dating by serial n umber or using some of the above info to narrow it down to a few years time frame would be much appreciated.

Rather than the movies, you could just go out for coffee. Not too much wasted time or money there...har har. :p

Seriously, a few things:

1. If the neck plates are made in the same process as the non-sig EVH/Axis guitars, then they are just metal plates created to serve their purpose with a number punched into them in any order. There's no numerical direction, and no "decoder ring" needed, etc. Post your serial up here, and Derek, Brian, or Jon will get you a born on date -- that, or call EBMM direct: 1-800-543-2255.

2. If it came with a catalog that had a nameless EVH/Axis, then we're looking ballpark of mid '95 and forward. That's about the time that EVH made the full change to Peavey, ie. the debut of the 5150II, combo, and the Wolfgang (first used in the "Not Enough" video...man, that vid had product placement written all over it!)

3. Schaller tuners, good. Your bridge actually says Music Man on it? If it does, then the numbers that are flying around in my head direct me more towards '97 in that regard (if I recall, that's when EBMM started putting their own trem on) If not, then it the Wilkinson bridge. Still same timeframe, so no points off.

So after all of my blabber, think '95-97, and that should get ya right, I'm thinking. Posting the serial will get you the exact date via EBMM.
