Previous thread is here regarding returning to guitar and getting help from forum members.

After much reading, and several trips to my local GC, I have narrowed the decision to 2 guitars. The Majesty and as of today, a BFR JP6.

I've been lucky enough to play a Majesty. The ergonomics and feel of the neck are out of this world. I've been dead set on getting one for several weeks now. Just over the past few days, some doubts had set in on if I should be looking at a more orthodox style guitar before pulling the trigger. One concern is the neck through...

There are 2 reasons I am hot to get a new guitar 1) the ergonomics of my Gibson Explorer have a lot to be desired in the sitting position 2) The neck is twisted. If it had a bolt-on, I would be able to replace it. I know the technical reasons for the neck through on the Majesty, but the inability to easily repair a damaged neck are weighing on me.

Today for lunch I went into GC to pick up some strings. They had a BFR JP6 on sale for a really good price. It is cherry burst and gorgeous. I really love how EB gets that "just right" amount of quilting in their tops. Granted the higher fret access is 'just great' instead of phenomenal. Now I am considering picking up this gem instead of the Majesty.

The trigger will be pulled on one of them within the next week or two. I just wanted to bounce these thoughts off the enthusiasts who frequent this forum and get some feedback. One thing I would like to clarify is the neck finish. I seem to remember the Majesty had a very glossy fingerboard, while the other JP models I have played have a normal finish on them. I can't seem to find a reference to this on any of the Majesty literature or reviews, and the guitar is no longer at the store.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry about any neck warp on MusicMan guitars, and if it should occur in a reasonable amount of time after the purchase, I'm sure that EBMM would be glad to return it and give you a new one :)

I'd definitely go for the Majesty.

One of them will feel better to you than the other. Go with your gut. If it is a wall hanger go with the prettiest. If it is going to work pick the one that plays best. Who knows, you might find both virtues in the same guitar. Best of luck to you.

Pick the one (or both...) that will make you happy now and in the near future.
Nothing last forever, and life is short... don't spend time & energy worrying about what 'might happen'...
Bad things can happen to any guitar, but you know EBMM will have your back...

The Maj fretboard doesn't exactly have a gloss finish per se, but it's a really tight-grained ebony so it seems pretty glossy. It's amazing. I love my Maj more than my mom. Get one.

Bfr JP6, just a much better looking guitar in my opinion, and Ive never played the majesty but it seems like a little over the top with the techno wizardry, to much to go wrong.

Majesty! But I just got back from a Dream Theater concert so I'm a little biased right now. It just looks killer on stage and sounds huge (in the hands of John Petrucci anyway).

Decisions - Majesty or BFR JP6

I'm 100% sure the Majesty has incredible ergonomics and feel, but since you're asking for personal opinions, I'll give you mine: the Majesty looks way too modern to me, I always see an inflatable guitar when I look at it. The cherry BFR, in the other hand, is incredibly beautiful. Since both models are top notch quality, I'd go for the looks then.

From one Utahn to another. Majesty :) I played that JP13 at that GC to death and almost took it home, but then the Majesty was revealed... and I'm glad I waited....

I gotta majesty just a few days ago: best 7 string I've ever played, best guitar I've ever seen or touched, it's simply the best guitar (along with ibanez j custom rg art as 6 string IMHO)

If not only other I'd consider is XI 7 cuz it has the best neck

im also struggling to decide! the majesty has grown on me somewhat, and everyone is saying its the best playing one yet... But theres no mistaking the beauty of the bfr's. theres a tobacco burst quilt thats come up for sale near me which is a very rare thing to find so im torn! i'd have to sell a guitar and get cash to buy that though, where as with the maj, i would get it on buy now pay next year.

Like a good BBQ sidearm with engraving and fancy grips and tooled leather, a BFR Majesty would be a beautiful thing.

I think the majesty might be better for many people, especially since you seem to like the Explorer. Well other than it being broken :) But it has the angled headstock and is 22 frets. The old JP is a 24 fret bolt-on and quite honestly that doesn't work as great as it could. If you want 24 frets neck-through is better IMHO.

On the other hand, I never regretted buying a guitar simply because it was pretty :D

I've always loved the BFR Cherry Burst (reminds me of a Les Paul) but have never played one. The Majesty has the sound and the ergonomics (and the looks if you like it). I'd go for the Majesty for the options, the woods and versatility.
