Hey , I thought I would review the Deep Purple concert in Toronto last night.

First off - Steve Morse along with Gillan is the star of the band. This is the first time I have seen Steve live and he was incredible.

His solo spot was Contact Lost and Well Dressed Guitar.

Even if you think that Purple tunes like Knocking at Your Back Door and Perfect Strangers are over the top, and I admit I did, Steve's playing saves the day, everything they played was enjoyable, I don't think there was a letdown in entire concert.

Gillan and their new keyboard player Don Airey , is a blast too, they have great senses of humor - Gillan knows the lyrics to Knocking at Your Back Door are juvenile so he does it with a wink and a nod to the audience.

Their new keyboard player put together a medley that included Mozart, and Oh Canada . I know it sounds Spinal Tap but I had a grin on my face the entire time.

All in all one of the best concerts I have been too, don't miss them if they come by your city.

The one down spot was trying to get Steve's autograph, I hung around the stage door for an hour after the concert and finally gave up.

I can't believe John Lord the original Keyboard player is not in the band anymore. Wasn't he the only original member to stay in the band all these years throughout their many line-up changes?

I forgot to mention, Thin Lizzy opened with John Sykes and Scott Gorham. Sykes sang and played a black Les Paul, Gorham played a Strat. They played Jailbreak, Rosalie and Boys are Back in Town.

It was a cool little start to the main event.
