delinquent locking tuner

I am doing a string change on an axis sport..chrome schaller locking tuners.All strings came out fine..now I can*t get the low E string back in the hole..tried tapping it,screwing/unscrewing,wd40..a nail..never had a problem before..any clues?..and no,I won*t do a Keef,and forget the E string.

Perhaps the locking pin has not come "down"? I'd take the tuner off of the guitar, spray it with WD40, gently take an awl and try and persuade the locking pin to move all of the way out of the string hole. Got pics?

Tx Wolfy.I did as you prescribed,gave the pin a good baff,and bingo..maybe these things need a little WD once in a while.Problem solved…or dissolved...
