No, its not dueling banjos...Its dueling BONGOS!

First of all the bass is in pristine condition. An absolute steal for $700. Second of all, no wonder this guy didn't like it, this bass was setup horribly. Well horribly if you like any kinda of medium to low action. The action was higher than any bass I have ever picked up and I go to Guitar Center on a regular basis. I don't know if this guy liked it that high but it was crazy. Nothing that wasn't easily fixed. Also it is strung with D'addrio Prosteels XL or something, way too much tension. I have a few strings that I like, but they all are on the low tension side. Sounds superb even with those zingy strings. Now to enjoy the real fun of a black bass, fingerprints!

I dig that black Bongo, and I must admit it is the first time a Bongo really pleases me. But I'm not GASing for a Bongo yet. ;)

Denial. Clearly in Denial. Someone is in the denial stage and needs to graduate to the acceptance stage.

Yes, I am feeling a little giddy 'cuz it is 6:30pm and I am still at work playing with gravity. :p

A long time ago, I bought probably THE best Stingray I have ever owned, a black sparkle SR4, from a guy on "another" forum. When it arrived, I was absolutely horrified, scared to touch it, really.

I emailed him - did you loosen the truss rod completely or is it broken?

"I've never touched it", he said.

So I changed the strings, tightened up the rod, did a little bit of a setup and it sold about ten Stingrays after guys in San Antonio played mine.

There's always one in every forum, I guess.

Glad that worked for you, Paul!

Nice bass.

No torting this biatch...While I do like Black with tort, it kinda kills the Penguin bass look. It would also kill the matching motif of the pair and I most definitely will never tort the Medallion Gold (ew...shudder).

And my lord how does anybody play with these strings? I might as well be plucking sandpaper. I exchanged another email with the seller, he said the reason the action was so high is because there was fret buzz and he never took the time to fix it. These strings have to go.

Larry, this weekend is doable, maybe Jack would be up for something as well. We could get a whole lot of Bongos in one place... :p

Well, in a little bit I am out to lunch where I will do three things.
1. Buy new strings
2. Ship out Lavendar Pearl SR5
3. Eat Lunch, duh!
I am almost afraid to take off those prosteels. They are so rough and have so much tension, they will either put a gash in my finish or pop and take an eye out. :p

And Larry, where did you get a pic of my girlfriend?
