Development of the Game Changer via Big Al and 25th Anniversary

i was just thinking about those pictures we were shown of some test mules prior to the release of the 25th and Big Al. remember that one shot of the bass with that pickup switching gizmo that stuck out quite a ways from the bass body?

i was wondering... was there a point when the developers were picking out which tones we would be allowed to have (i.e. all buttons out equals bridge in series, etc..) when someone said, "let's let them have ALL of them"?

was the GameChanger in development already, or was it at that point that the powers that be decided to take the pickup switching idea to its logical extreme.

call me goofy, but to me this evolution is fascinating... was it the chicken or the egg?
