I've been playing my Morse almost exclusively for months now and I when went to switch back to the LUKE I could not find a clean tone (or driven for that matter) that I was happy with. I have my Mesa Express with treble at 12 and mid and bass at about 9-10. The contour is at 11. Any experiences with LUKE owners that also play other EBMM guitars and go back and forth? Any ideas on how to dial it in with the EMGs vs. the passive humbuckers or single coils. Help....

yeah, it's quite hard to find a good clean tone on the Luke... BUT I find really nice cleans with the roadster.

I do not own either model though I will have my Y2D this week, but did you ever think that you have been playing the Morse so steady that you are used to that tone and now that you switched over to the Luke with active pups it might take some time to adjust to the tone you are hearing. I used to get a similar problem if I was locked into single coils for a lentgh of time then went to humbuckers or vice a versa, it would take some time and dialing in to get adjusted. When you hit upon a tone you like write the settings down, as even doing this if you are playing a different ax for a long length and go back to the other guitar with the same amp and settings it still might not sound right . Kind of weird but just keep tweaking and you will find what you are looking for.

To semi answer your question, play with your EQ section on your amp or get an Xotic EP Booster, they give you a warm, fat push that makes active single coils sound really good. I look at active pickups as pickups that work great for heavy processing or saturation. They are stale on their own but when you ad a little bit of spice to them, they can do some crazy things. Passive pickups are very "colored" and EQ'd where as the active pickups really work with the sounds you are running them through. Neither is better, just different and it comes down to personal preference, but I would maybe try messing around with your EQ or getting an EQ or subtle boost pedal (like the EP booster) to color your sound a bit. I hope this helps. :)
