Difference between EBMM JP13 bridge vs. Floyd Rose Bridge (Setup)

Hey everyone,

I am not very handy when it comes to changing strings on floating bridges and usually get the guitar shop in town to set up my guitars that have floating trems. A friend of mine who is familiar with Floyd Rose trems offered to set up my guitar a full step down but I am wondering if there is anything he needs to know about the jp13 bridge compared to a Floyd Rose.

If your friend can setup a Floyd, the jp should be no problem. Simply changing the strings and adjusting the trem is roughly the same as a Floyd (except the jp doesn’t have a locking nut). Adjusting intonation is much easier on the music man bridge vs a Floyd.

If anything, it's easier than a Floyd bridge. He should have no problem.

Would he need to do anything major when going from drop d to drop c? I would be getting a little bit thicker of strings. Thinking Heavy bottom slinky 10s.
 
The FAQ also says to make the nut slots wider when going to a lower gauge. Do you guys think this would be necessary if I am using heavy top, slinky bottoms (52-42-30-17-13-10) and going to drop C? I currently have regular slinky 10s on the guitar and it is in E standard.
 
I got one of my JPs set up in C Standard. I‘d have to look up the String Gauges, but i filed the Nut cause the Strings were basically sitting on the Nut, instead of in the Nutslot.
Not a lot more to it though. Had to adjust the Trem Springs and set the Intonation but it‘s really not difficult
