Can anyone shed some light on the difference between these two colors? I tried looking up pictures on The Perfect Bass but couldn't really tell from the lighting.

Thanks!

I can tell you only about the white, which I have on my BA4SSS. Its a beautiful finish, not a flat white, but kind of subtley sparkly, but I can never get the sparkle to show up in photos (at least with my cheapo camera). I have not seen the white pearl in person, but I would suppose its got more definition to the sparkle, probably more metalic or some kind of flake in the paint. That's my guess.

I've not seen either up close, but I believe that white is solid white like a refrigerator or a FedEx truck.

Pearl white is like super-fine metalflake. If you look really closely at it, you'll see reflective bits in the surface. It has depth.

Some car companies do pearl white finishes. I saw a pearl white Audi the other day.

This is Candy Red, which is a pearl finish. The actual color is a dark red--like an old-school fire engine--but as you can see it's got a somewhat more metallic aspect to it. I've got a better, full-sunlight photo at home... I'll upload it if I remember to.

Don't candy apple colours have a gold or silver coat under them? I have seen Candy Apple Reds with a gold coat under them and Candy Apple Green with a silver coat underneath the coloured clear coat.

I have seen both side by side and you're description above is perfect IMO.

EBMM Candy Red is not like classic automotive Candy Apple Red. It's not a red-tinted clearcoat over a metallic base. It's a red pearl finish.

Alternate names for popular colors that are more descriptive:

White Pearl = White Pearl
Blue Pearl = Blue Pearl
Saphire Black = Black Pearl
Candy Red = Red Pearl
Desert Gold = Orange Pearl
Lava Pearl = Blood Orange Pearl? Dark Orange Pearl?
Sterling Silver = Gray Pearl
True Gold = Yellow Pearl
Egyptian Smoke = Tan Pearl

And so on. If you've seen any of those colors up close you know what a pearl finish looks like.

I'll let you know when mine gets here!

From what I managed to find, I was also under the impression that the flat white was like a hollywood smile bright white type effect whereas the white pearl had a bit of depth to it. Both are stunning and different IMO just a slightly different feel to them.

But even this Big Al white has some sparkle in it that diffuses light, I would say less sparkle than the second pic from Pete, but I am hard pressed to call it flat. I would need a better camera, and a tripod, to get the depth of the finish. All I can say, is I love it, and that's all that matters, right? You'll love it too.
