difference tear drop vs full pick guard

Hi all and sorry for the dumb question... But I have seen SR5s that have the standard tear drop pick guard and also SR5s with the full pick guard that covers the knobs as well... Is there a difference between basses or is it just cosmetic? Also which is considered and upgrade?

The 5-string with the teardrop is probably a Sterling5, not a Stingray5...

hmmm i have never heard of, or seen a Stingray 5 with a tear drop guard... perhaps you saw a Sterling 5?

The SUB 5 had a Stingray-ish pickguard.

Ok..thanks... so the sr4 is tear drop and the sr5 is full... that clears that up.
