So little question, but intresting one: Is there (And i believe that is) differences between original Music Man EVH guitar, and newer Axis - model I know that Eddie was pissed off, because it took 18 months to receive HIS guitar (quality takes it time ;o) Of course.
But ie there anything else between these instruments? I´m more that glad to hear about it. My personal opinion it, that just few guitar factories are creating decent, well done (like steak
) guitars. Music Man is definedly one of those rare ones. I have owned several Ibanez guitars, and years 94-97 were good ones (Jem-line, mainly) Today quality of qood is getting really low. One of my friend took his expensive RG-model, and scrached paint off it. Surprise! Body was made with 2 differend woods, there was 70% basswood and 20% Alder. Rest 10% was glue....
That was the point i was like: Ok, no more **** to me... ladies...
It is true, that (for example) Ibanez 90 HAM and other special models are good work, but it is shame, that how they can rip off money from us! (Especially here in Finland!!!!)
New Jem7VWH costs here in Finland 2450 euros, that means over 3000 $US. Three thousand, guys!
Anyway i have looked (this is just my little meaningless opinion) several guitars, and there´s few real intresting ones, such PRS; Music Man, Tom Anderson, Brian Moore, etc. They still use good wood, not plastic-**** ;o)
I remember: One of my frien bought Gibson Custom Les Paul few years ago. Left-handed. It was white and pick-ups were gold-plated etc. Really one piece of glory. When it arrived, we soon noticed, that fretting was all wrong, no matter how we tried to tune it. It was perfect when we picked note fron zero to fifth fret, but then it was all wrong. We tried to tune it in all ways (We use 100% from all its adjustments)
Then we tried to use just 12th fret, just to get it sound. Ok. It was 100% right in frets 7-15, but then freqency got loose. That guitar was worth of 3000 bucks 10 years ago. Now it would be much more. We send it back, and quarantee recovered it. Then it was fine.
Later we find old Tokai Les Paul, from 85 or something, and it sounded tremendous good. Price was arounf 600 USD.
So.... what the lesson?
Still im very happy with Music Man guitars, they are very easy to play (i have to change action littlebit low: I put small, thin piece of wood or plastic under neck, so i can rise floyd rose littlebit higher. Im real floyd-raper, and it HAS to move in each way. If you control your floyd rose well, it is really killer thing! There´s several killer tricks that you can made with it.
Well, i have talked too much now, have to let space below
)
Any opinions & Suggestions?
