Hi there,

I´m using a silhouette special with a different tuning (NST) like this:

6th C 0.46
5th G 0.36
4th D 0.26
3rd A 0.17
2nd E 0.13
1st G 0.10

What I´d like to know is that if I have to adjust the neck or if I have to make any special adjustment in order to get the correct string tension?

thanks

The Silhouette comes factory set up with a 9-42
gauge. The 10-46 tuned to A-440 would give a little more tension on the neck and would need
a quick truss rod ajustment to lower the action.
If you tune down to d or e flat you may not need
an ajustment. If you tuned down to "c" you may
need to use a thicker string to give the neck proper tension. Tuning up the higher strings you may want to use a lighter string.

For more info on getting your action just right

contact us at (800)543-2255 x209

Thanks

Derek

You tune an .046 E string down to a C?!? That string must just be flapping in the breeze! Just out of curiosity, what's it like playing a guitar tuned entirely in fifths?

1) Derek, I don´t live in the USA so I can´t call to the 1 800 line, could you write some advice?

2) Playing in 5ths sounds very strange at the beginning but it´s very interesting thing tasking in count you have like a Cello tuning from the 6th to the 3rd C, G, D, A or a viola/violin tuning from 5th to 2nd G, D, A, E. The 0.46 is ok. I have to play it very softly in order to not to buzz it, but I´ll swith to 0.52 or more when I can get the strings...
