I'm thinking of changing out my Morse bridge pickup for a Super 3. The output levels, according to DiMarzio, are bout the same. Seems the tone, is a tad darker and chunkier than the DP-200. My amp is set for brighter tones so I think it might be a good it. Anyone have one, heard one, or have used one?

I posted this question at the Seymour Duncan forum too. I have been a long-time member there and there is a lot of respect for DiMarzio. Most of those guys are saying the Super 3 might be a little too dark for me and that harmonics aren't easy to get...

Yup I have one! In my Ibanez:

See the green/white HB Butch? It is very good at producing a tight sound while using distortion, and I dont think its dark. Its bright sounding and high on the mids. Def Leppard's Phil Collen plays it and equipped it in all his Jackson PC1 model.

Butch,

Bench test that baby!!!

Yeah, I love DiMarzio pups, and that's one I haven't had the opportunity to solder in yet - but very anxious too, actually I'm sold on it already!

I think it's going to be along the lines of a Wolfgang EVH, which is a "superb" sounding pickup!! Don't forget the Norton too - "fantastic" string clarity and punchy/musical.

I have three I change out often in my Axis: Super Distortion, Wolf EVH and Norton. ALL different - all awesome! So, after your results, I may be adding the S3.:)

Hey Butch
I liked the one I had.
It sounded great, cleaned up reasonably well, and had no shortage of harmonics.
It came stock in a pink Fender HM strat that I got from Buddy's in Fairfield.(Back in the day)
Take into consideration it was an alder bodied, Floyd equipped, neon pink guitar.
YMMV

That sounds cool. Since my Morse is poplar, I imagine it will be darker than in yours; but maybe not...
