The JR Cutlass is the first guitar I've had with direct mounted pickups and while I don't usually tinker that much with my pickup heights, I am wondering if there is actually anything you can do to help get a more balanced tone?
On the bridge pickup the higher strings seem louder than the bottom strings. I'd have to measure but I'd say perhaps a db or so. The neck pickup sounds very consistent going through each string but moving to the bridge the high end is just a bit too piercing.
Perhaps this is how it's meant to be voiced but I have a really hard time taming the top-end on my amps.
Is increasing the string action the only course of action I have or is there anything else I can look at?
Thanks!
