Hi... just setting up my EVH (haven't adjusted anything for over 10 years now) and comparing it to my Axis SS. Noticed that the rear cavity on the EVH looks longer than the Axis SS.

This means that the trem claw (for the EVH) had to be loosen a lot more than on the Axis SS to achieve the same result (ie. trem flat to the body).

Currently (as it was setup for 10-46) the distance of the trem claw screw is approx 0.7 inch and was wondering if that's too loose or not.

Asking because on the Axis SS, I had to use 4 springs and the trem claw screw is approx .5 inch out. And both guitars are using the springs that came with it so assuming it's EBMM springs.

..just curious.. too much time on my hands right now :)

If the trem is sitting properly and the guitar stays in tune it's fine. There is so certain distance a trem claw should be screwed in or out. It all depends on the balance of the spring tension vs string tension.

Thanks. Just worried that if the trem claw is not screwed in "enough" it might not be able to take a "beating" when playing hard.

Should stop worrying since I've had it like that for over 10 years already. Thanks for the replies.
