The Rat2 and Boss ODB-3 I use for my P-basses don't quite sound right with the inherent sonic qualities of my new S.U.B. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a big-beefy distortion that will play nice with my S.U.B. and keep all of the full, rich low end?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

Anyone else?

How about the Fulltone Bass Drive? Anyone played one? I know the Full Drive pedals sound great for guitar, but I don't know any bass players who've tried its cousin.

I presently own the Fulltone BD, Sansamp GT2, Tech21 American Woman and the Big Muff.

My present fave is the Fulltone Bass Drive. Guaranteed not to lose bottom.

I used to have a Frantone Lo Tone. It sounds even bigger because it actually gives you a low BOOST. However, the dist was not to my liking.

GT2: Tubey grind and sensitive to playing dynamics
AW: Old school distortion (reminds me of Grand Funk)
Big Muff: The best fuzz out there IMO.

I am also a Fulltone Fulldrive user,
Can use it as either a clean boost or a drive.
Low gain settings are very tube like (SVT classicish)
High gain settings are insane.
MAKE SUREEEEE if you get one to get a newer one.
Ive tried the older ones, with the push pull comp cut as opposed to the silver 3 way switch. and it was the worst dist ive ever used. (though i wasnt using my rig at the time)
I would def. recommend the fulltone over the boss option.

Only distortion I ever liked in a pedal / effect was a Tube Screamer. Really. Didn't chop off the bottom, and it was easy to control. If that doesn't work, may I suggest...Marshall Major, HiWatt Bass 200, Sound City anything, and, keeping it in the family, Musicman HD-130. After 10 minutes with any of those, your hearing will be so damaged, it won't matter what it sounds like. Especially the Marshall. What? What??:D :D :D :D

Another vote for the Fulltone Bass Drive - I traded my SansAmp for it... I run mine at 18v with a Dunlop DC brick and it sounds "bigger" than at 9v.

Fulltone Bass Drive. It is like having two distorion pedals in one at any given time. No loss of bottom end, solid construction and true bypass make it even better. Check the reviews on the popular review sites for more write ups. It is the only bass distortion I have owned, but I have owned four envelope filters. What does that say? I am picky:)
