Correct, all painted, but there's a satin gloss (I believe) clearcoat over the paint. Extremely good feel to it. I always suggest to anyone that has trepedations about the Bongo to just close their eyes - feel and tone are superb - though personally I like the looks too.

Does this paint/coating improve neck stabilitiy throughout humidity changes? My current bass, a cort curbow w/ a basic maple neck needs an adjustment if there is so much as a clowd in the sky. lol

Any finish over wood is going to offer more protection from humidity changes than leaving the wood completely (no wax or oil) unfinished, but don't take that statement as saying that the other MM necks aren't protected from humidity. Fact is that nothing really is going to stop environment changes from changing the neck.

And besides, if an adjustment is needed, the truss wheel makes it easier than first grade math.

Yes, they are painted.

Depends on the conditions of where you are playing if an adjustment is needed. I play shows and we have some really wacky weather here. I have to adjust as needed. Really simple....usually a 1/4 turn one way or the other gets it done right.

From the factory they come with a satin finish, but with use this does wear glossy smooth (depends on the player and how much use). It never gets that sticky-icky polyurethane feel, though.

Yes, I noticed this on my Rolls Burgundy HH. It's quite glossy looking now. I've had it for about two months now.

I own two bongos and my older one has now a glossy neck from use. My 6er is still matte and I think it has something to do with me cleaning it EVERYTIME I take it down. Really makes a difference.

Hey Unitap,
I just noticed you are from Quebec City. My wife and I love Old Quebec. Are you going to see Dream Theater at the festival in August?

Not sure about that. My Cort 5 string which was made in 2000 is having problems where the neck bows every 3-5 days. That neck has a finish on it so I really don't know if its the finish adding to the stability or how their necks (at least the old ones) are waaay less than Musicman quality fo sho. I read on Warmoth that finish helps from long term warping and such from humidity, although on some neckwoods, it is unnecessary.

I love my Bongo neck satin feel. that and how warwick necks feel = 2 heavens
