My AL just showed up. Considering it's age it is absolutely mint!!! I am really stoked...

There is not a ding or scratch anywhere on the body. Minor fretwear and there is a little oxidation on the upper frets. Anyone know how to get rid of the slight green discoloration that is on the neck around the frets?

It needs a setup and I may need to replace a couple (or all) of the bridge saddles, the adjustment screws on a couple are rusted, but other than that this thing is incredible!!!

Very nice grain, beautiful color and the neck is loaded with birdseye!!!

Once I get it cleaned and setup I'll post some pics...

Nice one - congrats on the new arrival.

Try some 0000 grade wire wool or some 2000 grade wet and dry - it won't hurt it.

Maybe just take the saddles off and give them a good soak in some releasing oil. That usually does the trick, with some tender love and care you should be able to free them up. That way you can keep the guitar stock and show off whatever remains as it's "badge of Honour".
S0d waiting for the pics - we wanna c them now !!! :D

I'll give that a try... yeah, I'd like to keep it stock. I'll see what I can do with the saddles and clean up the neck, fresh strings and set it up.

Then pics!!!

Ha! Nice try... not a chance!!!

but hey if you hurry, there's still time (<2 hr.) to get in on this one... It's not as nice as the one I scored though... ;)

I have some shorter saddle screws coming for mine. I need to lower the action and doing so would make the saddle screws stick up too far and after consulting with Jon it was decided by him try shorter screws rather than a shim under the neck.

I'm not looking for a "Petrucci" like action, but this one is a tad high from 12 >.

I'm going to redo the neck tonight, I was rewiring the electronics on the EVH last night or I would have started on the AL.

Anyhow, quit wasting time reading this and go place a bid man!!!
:D

That pice is sooooo cheap - I bet it will go for more than that my guess is that it will go for about eight. I wish that one was in the UK!
No good for me though as I want MM90's on the next one. OMG Listen to me!! - if my wife could see me typing this I'd be "ball - less" in more ways than one!

Thats a good bit of info that Jon has given you, although a shim under the neck is not too difficult.
Having said that I guess the shorter screws are the way to go and in all honesty I would probably go down that route.

Let us know what the outcome is and my offer still stands if you sh@g it up lol!! (British colloquialism!)
Cheers
