Does a 35" scale have wider fret spacing?

Do I have to stretch further out at the end of the neck? Is it much harder to play than a 34" scale?
 
It depends. The fret spacing is a bit longer, I think. I find some 35" scale basses to be comfortable and others to be just weird.

If you're doing a lot of stuff in F and G and C, it can get tiring if your technique blows (mine does). I have to remind myself to put my thumb in the center of the neck when I'm playing 35" basses.

Also, I am one of those crazy people who truly believes that it isn't the scale that makes the difference with the B string.

I have two 35" scale basses, a Reverend and a Lakland, and while I like them both a lot, I still prefer my 34" Bongos.

What are you looking at?

ya, a 35" has slightly wider spacing due to it's extra inch of scale length. If you've been on a 34" for a while going to a 35" will ahve you looking at your fingerboard for a bit while your hand gets used to it (not that hard, just 'odd') but going from 35" to 34" is pretty fun, it makes the 34" seem alot smaller...atleast to me :cool:

any hints as to the bass?? does it start with an "F" and rhyme with "Urlanetto"? or "Odera" ??? :p

No hints except you're stone cold. I'm doing some serious thinking as to whether I've got the cash for another bass (I'm trying to weasel my way into a Thunderfunk amp and perhaps an Accugroove cab), and I was trying to thin the herd to generate cash, not add another bass to it. But heck, it's on sale! :rolleyes:

I'm still looking at the possibility of adding a fretless SR5 once the fretted fours are thinned out. I really would like something completely different if I'm adding another, and that honeyburst HH SR5 in that thread the other day stirred longing in my soul.

hmmm...... ok, is it Canuck or other?? :p just kiddin'. Thunderfunk...sounds cool, I haven't heard that amp but it looks like it'd deliver and Accugroove, been hearing a ton of amazing things about those cabs for a while now.

I've got a 35" Cirrus, and everything else (SR5, old Pbass, fretless acoustic) are all 34. I found I got tired of switching between scale lengths... so now I play the SR5 and the Cirrus sits out.
