Hey, AL and Luke fans.

Have you ever seen AL or Luke perform on their signature guitars with piezo?

JP obviously does.

That's kind of why I asked. Of course, that's not going to stop me from wanting an AL with piezo. :p

I saw him twice last year and he didn't use a Piezo. His guitar had a trem though.

Get the piezo on the AL - it's AWESOME !!!! - especially thro an acoustic amp.

Luke did play an absolutely stunning white sparkle piezo luke a few years ago. he used it on this vid too: [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G32g89X8M38"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]

Saw it one time in real life in 2001, but it was my first concert EVER and i was so blown away by his performance that i didn't notice his guitars he used that night:eek:

Love watching/hearing Luke work in the studio. Someone else could play those exact same parts, but Luke just oozes feeling into each note. I also admire his efficiency, getting it done but yet keeping the air around him light.

Here's a question: Does a piezo setup change the sound of a Ball's electric side?

I don't know if I've read your question correctly candid, but here's my 2 pence worth.

On the AL the Piezo is cut in or out using the volume control. However the Piezo has it's own controls within the jack socket box to give you control over the Treble and bass of the piezo. There is also a mix control which can make the Piezo the dominant sound in a mag / piezo mix. here's a picture. I put some blobs of tippex on the set screws so that I could return it to the Factory Default/set up settings.

I turn my mix down to try and balance between the two, but as I run the piezo to a dedicated acousic amp and the mags to my Marshall you get even more control at the amp.

A guess the best set up for me would be a stereo lead from the AL to an EB volume pedal which would take the place of my splitter box, and then I could use the pedal to pan between the Marshall and the AER.

I just love the piezo and I'm so glad that I paid the extra to get one. The mags sound great when the piezo is off.

Thanks, Spud. You didn't answer my question, but what you said is helpful anyway.

What I'm asking is this: If you have a piezo and non-piezo AL (for example), side by side, and you use only the mag pups in your piezo equipped guitar (into your Marshall), would it sound different from the non-piezo guitar? i.e. is the bridge different, does the additional routing change elec tones, etc?

Well, the saddles are different. Block saddles on the piezo vs. vintage ones on the non. To me there's a difference in tone when swapping the saddles on the same guitar (just did it on my AL and then put the vintage ones back).
