my recent aquisition being my bongo 4 hh has put my sr4 into temporary hibernation , despite its perfect pairing with the svt 3 pro ampeg . The dial and eq configurations ive been using for the sr4 have been pretty much the same for the past 3 years in all places ive been playin in , that is because its such a gr8 sound ive found in any room . I would like to hear from anybody who has the same rig (bongo & svt 3 pro) who can pass-on their best configuration for a clean , sustained thumpy sound using knobz and eq . I havent had a gig yet where ive had the opportunity to test its parameters in a largish room , but i do know the settings ive had for the sr4 dont work for the bongo . So anyone that has a set configuration that they know works well in a large area would be very pleased to know this , very gratefull for the shortcut . FEVITZ:D

I've been gigging my Bongo with an SVT-8 Pro the past few years. Before that it was an SVT-4 Pro. And in the rehearsal studios we leverage in the "cold season" I usually find an SVT-3 Pro.

In every case, it's generally FLAT with a mild bump in the mids, either on the amp or the Bongo, as necessary to pop-through the full Band mix.

Be very careful of boosting the BASS in both locations! The Bongos preamp is POWERFUL and bumping it in both locations can make even the beefyest of speaker cabs to their knees!

Another good suggestion I've heard is to eq your amp to the room, and eq the bass to the song.

With me, I just generally roll of the highs, bump the bass a tad, and smile :)

Here Here...I have the SVT-3 in the Studio and sometimes on stage. For Passive, you have to Jam the Ultra Lows and Boost the Bass. Turn that crap down!

With LeBONGO...I start from Scratch, just like DaMan BP said.

I set it flat with the MIDs set to "4" (you know what that means), and don't use the EQ section. You don't need it, Okay..go ahead.

Anyhow..I keep LeBONGO Flat..and make the Amp Nice and Juicey........THEN...I add the Secret Sauce on the BONGO..(The KNOBS)...

I get most of my other sounds simply moving the Blend knob.

Careful with the Gain on the AMP..again, I'm not using it like I would with a Passive, where you open the it way up and crank the master.

Careful. Have fun.

Well, how did the gig go. Did the soundman even put you in the mains.

It was truly unbelievable , The sound just about blew me off stage . I set the ampeg all flat and mids at 4 , no EQ and no buttons pushed in . Gain was 10 o clock , tube gain was fullon . It was a really basic simple no frills setting on the ampeg . Just goes to show what 2 hh do compared to single h . We didnt have a sound man last night , just vocals and light drums into pa as it was a small room , bongo didnt need D I ing . Ampeg proved itself again to be the best mate with this breed of bass , for me anyway !
