Hi All,
I'm sure just the Geddy Lee/ Rush fanatics(Count me in!) noticed this but Geddy is using Slinkys on his Jazz in Rush In Rio instead of RotoACME's. I read that he had some tendon issues in his right hand fingers for that part of the tour. Do you think the Slinkys had lower tension than the Roto's? I wondered why the switch since has been a Roto user forever. He lists/thanks EB in the credits. Any thoughts?

*tisk tisk* jon you deserve to be slaped round the head :p

Maybe they have lower tension  I remember him saying on the documentary that he had pulled both tendons on either side of is middle finger and that it was really tense and sluggish...

But if you listen to Leave That Thing Alone in that concert the Slinkeys take a life of their own! Geddy has mad tone even if he was playing a F*n*er

You know, it's been about 27 years and almost 11 studio albums since Geddy last sang with the voice you guys are describing. I'm just saying.

Don't mean to stir the pot up, or maybe I do, but to not acknowledge how good Rush and Geddy Lee are, is just plain silly. You may not care for their brand of prog rock, but the talent is unmistakable.

Jon is jealous that Geddy doesn't play MusicMan.
I'm sure his attitude would change if Geddy walked in and wanted Jon to set him up with one.

the Kitty in my avatar pic is named Geddy Lee...that cat liked plucking the strings of my basses when i leave them out...too he isn't alive anymore, he could have been one of the greats ;) he was an avid music listener, loved it loud

i'm naming my next kitty Dio or Halford...maybe i'll get a vocalist :p

To try and calm the waters on the stirred pot:

Yes, Geddy and Alex and Neil are very talented players and they have influenced many bands and have inspired many people. The music they produce is just not at all to my liking. I'm not saying they are bad, or that I have better taste or anything of the sort. I just can't listen to them and I do not find them remotely inspiring. Just my preference. Your mileage may vary. That is all. :)

I enjoy listening to Rush every-so-often, but the thought has often occurred to me that if I wasn't a musician there would be no interest in them at all. Then I have to say that I wouldn't want to be a musician in a band that is most appreciated by musicians and not by the general listening public.

I don't listen to rap either, but to be honest, I'm more likely to crank up something simple like AC/DC than Rush when it comes on the radio.
