Hi all,

I just received my Sterling 5HH but I am missing the bag with the adjustment tools :( is this something that's expected or should I rise a complaint to the dealer?

I have bought several new EBMM basses over the years (though the most recent was six years ago) and none of them came with a set of tools.

I've bought several EBMM brand new and have never gotten any adjustment tools. I've gotten the manila envelope with its normal stuff, but no tools.....ever....not one.......

Ever!

Tools ? As in two random Alan keys that are made out of chocolate and don’t fit anything tools, not included.
It’s all about the candy :p

No, no tools come with the instruments, but the Music Man toolkit is an excellent value if you don't already have a toolbox full of tiny allen wrenches and arcane measuring tools. Highly recommended!

I’ve heard the new new StingRays are coming with the candy in smart little zip bags ?

Ah, that might be true. I haven't bought a lot of new basses lately but I did buy a new SR5 Special and I can see a little velvet bag from where I sit. I had forgotten where it came from.

When I purchased my Classic Stingray and later on a Bongo both came with a full set of tools in a pouch called Ernie Ball Musician Tool Kit. A full set of Allen Keys, 6 in 1 screwdriver, 6"steel ruler, cutters, microfiber cloth, pegwinder and wonderwipes. But to correct that, they didn't come with the Basses they came through the post around a week after I received my Basses and after I registered both of them.I think you had to register your purchase to qualify for a toolkit.

Not registered my Bongo yet. The bass came with a plastic pouch with a sticker and one of each type of wipe.
The sticker is on my pedal board case with the rest of the stickers I’ve accumulated over the years spending a small fortune in the process of obtaining said stickers :p

I would say that receiving the tool kits had nothing to do with EB at all, but was a good will gesture by the dealer which in my case was Strings and Things in the UK.

My new Stingray RS guitar did some with some allen wrenches, but not a full tool set. I will say that the truss rod tool is awesome, and works better than sticking an allen key into the wheel.

That’s a good point. Is there an official EBMM truss rod adjustment tool ?
I use a Torx screwdriver T20 I think. Fits perfectly and trust it not to break (snap on so it best not break, :p )

The torx screwdriver I use couldn’t fit better. I’m surprised I’ve never even enquired if there’s an official tool. Have to have a look and more than likely get one for the sheer hell of it

I don't know how it left the factory as I bought them used, but both my StingRay Special and my Short Scale StingRay came with a soft pouch containing the truss rod tool + an allen wrench (to adjust the saddle string height).

I'm fairly certain the 'official' tool only came about in the past few years. But it is quite easy to use and easy to grip.

Got a couple of Torx screwdrivers that I use and have been using for years but an official tool would definitely be nice to have
