Hi and Welcome to the forum. You'll get a lot of great info here. I do hope you enjoy it.

Haven't seen an HH silo w/ rosewood neck. MM does not have a custom shop. Just FYI, the custom shop issue has been address ad nauseum and those threads tend to devolve quickly. The reason they don't have a custom shop is because with all the available options, there are literally thousands of possibilities if you place an order for a guitar with your dealer, as opposed to buying one from dealer stock.

Having said that, EBMM are constantly trying new things and giving us knuckleheads more options so you never can tell what the future brings, especially the Ball Family Reserve instruments.

I've just discovered MusicMan guitars, and I am blown away with how well they sound and feel (the necks are amazing). So Im looking for a black on back Silo with a HH config, like the double neck in the image below. Now for the tricky part.. I would love to have an all Rosewood neck. Have any of you seen one of these in the wild. Also does MM have a custom shop..

EBMM doesn't have a Custom Shop (it comes up from time to time often generates a lengthy and somewhat heated thread that typically winds up locked - you could do a search for "Custom Shop").

Back in 2009 they did make solid rosewood necks available on all models for a very short time period (no longer than a 1-month order window) but that was the only time period where you could get a solid rosewood neck on a Silo. I think I remember seeing at least one floating around here on the forum. Any 2009 rosewood neck Silos would have the HSH pickup configuration; EBMM hasn't offered an HH Silo since sometime in the mid-1990s (other than the 20th Anniversary model). However, it would be fairly easy to get an HH pickguard and convert a Silo to HH.

I went to an Eagles concert a couple of months ago; Steuart Smith (who replaced Don Felder) used a sweet looking sunburst HH Silo (with chrome covered pickups) for quite a few songs. I don't know if he modded his or if it was a one-off for him.

Different guitar, but you could get an HH Albert Lee in black with black pickguard. It comes with the 2 humbuckers and has a solid rosewood neck and mahogany body. I'm not quite sure if you're looking for a double neck or single that had the pickups like the pic.......

Hello and welcome aboard

The Silo 20th Anniversary has a 2HH configuration, but you cannot order it anymore. You can find it second hand (just take a look in the Sale thread).
The Morse Signature is more or less based on the Silo and comes in a HSSH configuration. You can have it in black but if you want an all rosewood neck it's more difficult. Some sealers have some (for instance Colin : Guitar Planet - Australian Music Man Dealer)

Thank you all for your responses. Im looking for a single neck version. I appreciate the Albert Lee, but the aesthetic does not really work for me. Ill take a look at the Steve Morse Signature version (thats a lot of pickups) and see what i can find in the states.

I saw this one Guitar Planet - BFR Silhouette Special as well. One last question. Do the MM guitars have well style routing so you could drop a Hum bucker in without routing out the guitar...
Thanks you guys are awesome

The Silos are routed for HSH and designed so you can swap in other pickguards. Basically you'd have to order a second p/g with HH.

Unfortunately the solid RW necks were a limited run so there's no way to get one right now.

Guitar Center has a Silhouette with a BFR all rosewood neck in vintage sunburst on its used page. The price is pretty damn high...but again I dont think there were too many of these made at all.

I would go out and play an HH AL... I know you said its not visually appealing to you, but once you play it you realize it just works. The AL wasn't my favorite shape until I played one. I'm still and Axis guy, but I have serious respect for the AL now.

That Silhouette Special was from that short run of rosewood neck guitars. Not a lot of them around; they could only be ordered for about one month back in 2009.

I should point out that while the 24-fret Silhouette has the HSH routing (and the earlier ones are kind of "HHH" routed) the 22-fret Silhouette Special is routed HSS (bridge humbucker route) under the pickguard.

Well it seems you have your heart set on a Silo with a RW neck, maybe you could look into the one that Rob said GC has for sale and see if they will come down a bit. If you just want an HH configuration you could just mod it with a different pick guard that is cut for two humbuckers and take out the single coil in which if you wanted to sell it you could restore it back to its original form, as you are not doing anything that is irreversible.

Though their is no CS it seems every year Sterling and the crew will come up with something out of the norm for a short period so their is always something going on and things never get stale around here, in fact at times they move to fast lol.

That is a little spendy but it might the best I can do if im going to be a sticker for the RW neck... Im going to take a look at the AL HH today and see how it feels. Honestly, im just excited that I found such a comfortable guitar. Thanks again for all the wealth of information.

David, I know how you feel about the look of the Albert Lee, I felt the same way myself... then I played one! I ended up liking the guitar and bought the standard SSS version.

Last year's NAMM I was able to play the HH/Rosewood Albert Lee, and I liked it alot! Try to find one and give it a try, I think you will love it. If not, the Silhouette is a great guitar (I actually like them better), but you will likely have to 'settle' for the standard neck. Either way, I think it's win win.

Great choice if you go with it. The Silo Special or the AL, both excellent guitars.

David, where are you located?
