Hi all,

I have noticed some fret wear on my JP BFR, which at first I thought was strange as I thought it had Stainless Steel frets and I don't think I have played it enough to wear that sort of material down. But perhaps they didn't start using Stainless Steel material for the frets until later?

From the Serial Number Database I have the following information on the guitar:

Manufactured: May 22nd, 2008
Build Code: 962-FJ-J6-00-ES-CR
Model: BFR Petrucci
Pickguard: No Pickguard
Hardware: Chrome Hardware

Any advice on what the material might be is appreciated.

Thanks.

It does not have stainless. The JPXI was the first in the series to get stainless steel. All other models transitioned to stainless around 2012.

Thanks for the advice all. And here I was thinking all these years that it had SS frets!

Long shot, but anyone on here from Australia who might recommend luthiers in Australia that do a good job on these guitars for redressing or refreting? Is there a luthier(s) in Australia that Ernie Ball uses or recommends?

Thanks again.
