...because the Seymore Duncans are not stock, and you say you got a great deal on the guitar, it sound like you got a deal because the previous owner did their own Mods, made a mess of it then decided to get rid of the guitar!!?

That's why you don't mess with Music Man's stock stuff.... Especially if you don't know what you're doing. Looks like the previous owner ruined the guitar, and didn't really spend the time to properly match up pickups to the body wood. or maybe the just like ****ty sounding guitars.... who knows... time for you to go find a DiMarzio PAF pro and have it installled right away to save the pooor guitar...

brunswick, ohio.....I can have a tech look at it in a week, but I'm not sure if I should by the original pickups and have him install them to spec......I mean if you guys are pretty sure thats the prob......I dont know why these duncans would sound so crappy....

It almost sounds like a slight fret buzz. What Duncans do you have in there? Just about any Duncan would be an UPGRADE over whatever stock pickups were in there. They do not make any crap pickups.

Seymour Duncans (SSL52-1, SSL52-1B single coils, TB-4 JB trembucker) it looks like the only way to get access to the wiring is to take all the strings off and the pickguard.....I bumming, I really love the neck on this thing...its perfect...

Then keep it! Changing the wiring/pickups is easy to do and it doesn't have to be expensive.

First thing I'd do is check duncan's site, read reviews of the pickups and try and decide if they're for you. If you get the sense that they're not for you, consider replacements before you spend any money rewiring. Guys here can make recommendations if you're interested.

If you don't want to mess with it, take it in to a local repair shop and have them check out the wiring- shouldn't cost you much. Sounds like it's just wired up improperly.

If you do want to mess with it, take off the strings, unscrew the pickguard, disconnect the molex connector, and the entire assembly will put out. There's lots of info on Duncan's site and the web to step you through the re-wiring process.

I don't know, it sounded good to me...you got some good chops there bro...what are you playing through. Do you have another guitar to compare it too? I know when I tried out my..........with Seymour Duncan Invaders, at first it sounded shiznit, but with some amp tweakin, equalizing and pickup height adjustment, it all sounded fine...I was expecting alot worse from your original post

thanks for the chop props....that recording is actually going straight into my korg d1600, I have strat here and les paul custom to compare....I raised the string height one whole turn on each screw and it seemed to help a bit.....I agree, it may just need pole piece adjustments and action set correctly, but the more I raise the action the less I like the guitar....I think I'm going to sell it and try to find one locally to test drive.....the problem is all the local dealer dont have silo's......

I think $600 plus shipping is a pretty fair price, my whole take on this is that it just needs to be set up correctly, but I dont know how to do it, and I have two other guitars that I need to have set up first...my LP is 20 years old and my strat is 15 years old and have never been touched, but I think its time to take em in.( im just a player not a tweaker)..I just dont have the time or money to drop into this guitar, if someone feels they can set it up for themselves then I think they will be getting a good deal on a guitar that has a great neck at least..it comes with a case but one lock is broken, but looks like it could be fixed.......

thanks for the compliments on my playing, I was just noodling around, I tell yah the neck is like butter.... I love it.....my goal is to try and find one locally and see what it sounds like and plays like and then maybe order a new one......I just cant find any around here.....anyone in cleveland have one? let me know so I can come over and check it out.....

FYI....If whoever changed the pickups still used the Silent Circuit, it needs to be adjusted to match the ohms of the new pickups. That could be part of your problem. but, don't sell it yet. Try new strings, put a new battery in, and see what happens.

BTW, my avatar almost attacked the dog in pic #3....Sorry

pic 3 dog is only 3.5 lbs.....but she is a fighter........I keep going back and forth in my mind on selling it or not.....I popped the battery out and I cant tell any difference.....I dont think its any more noisy with the battery or without......I guess I could try and put strings on it before I sell, but if someone makes me an offer, I might just unload it....I really would like to hear a stock one.....I'm going to check out seymour's site tommorrow and later this week see it its wired up correctly.....
