It all started with my bassist friend. He was looking for a new bass. I kept plugging the Bongo even though he was intent on a Stingray. Eventually he came across a Bongo for a price he couldn't refuse and now he's totally happy with the Bongo.
Next I got my JP6. I was a Music Man fan before I even played one (don't know how that's even possible - you guys are too influential), but seriously, this guitar is the most awesome guitar I've ever played. Definitely turned me onto Music Man for life.
My guitarist friend told me he was in the market for a new guitar (I think he was a bit jealous after playing the JP6). Obviously I told him I'd only recommend a Music Man. I thought a Silo Special would be perfect for him, as he grew up on a Strat. He really adored the Tele tone though.
His budget wasn't high enough to afford a Music Man, but I figured if he played one, the guitar would speak for itself.
Then I came across a blueburst hardtail Steve Morse on sale. It was bought from the USA in Dec 2006, and taken back to Australia. I told my friend about a Steve Morse and asked if he was interested. The price was too high, so he said no.
So I devised a secret plan - talk the price down to something I could afford (though... it was still painful right after paying the balance of my JP6
), purchase the Steve Morse, and show it to my friend. If he didn't like it, I would keep it. Otherwise he could buy it off me if he wanted to stretch his budget a little.
I drove 40 minutes to pick up the guitar from the seller. The Steve Morse was in great condition. Almost brand new, and less than half the retail price of a new Steve Morse. I knew I scored another awesome guitar.
I showed it to my friend and let him play it. He said it was fantastic.
He's buying it off me, and now all of us are in the Music Man family
