Donating to Victims of Katrina

In light of the current events in Lousiana and Mississippi, Far Cry has
decided to donate all of our proceeds from CD sales in the month of
September to the Red Cross to aid those unfortunate folks on our gulf
coast. Katrina devastated the areas in and around New Orleans and the
Mississippi coast line and many people are homeless and starving. You can
be part of this effort simply by going to either our website,
www.farcryband.com or http://cdbaby.com/cd/farcryband, and purchasing our CD. When you get there
you will notice that several other musicians and bands are also
donating the proceeds from the sales of their CDs. This is a way that you can
help all of us to help the poor, unfortunate people in their recovery.

Larry and Eric wish all of the victims of this catastrophic event God
speed.

Great work guy's! We are putting together several fund raisers here in GSO, My wife's hospital is going to hire as many people as they can from the ravaged areas. And we took up almost a grand at the high school football game tonight.

Everybody do whatever you can!

From my family, who are in far better shape than many others who experienced Katrina, big thanks to you guys.

My sister had 4-6 inches of water in her house, and she is LUCKY, living less than half a mile from the beach in Biloxi. (Just two blocks up from the Beau Rivage, where all the reporters like to stand, apparently, when they broadcast, and the Hard Rock is/was right next to that.) I talked to her again today. They are hot, sweaty, tired, no electricity and no running water - it's hard to clean the mud out of the house without running water. The pool is a scary thing, and my brother in law is a maniac about pool maintenance...so even though it's black water, he threw all his remaining shock in there, hoping to kill whatever is growing there.

Two fish appeared, belly up. I think shock is bad for salt water species.

My niece fared worse with four feet of water in her house - she lives 1.5 miles or so from the beach in Ocean Springs, which should give you some idea about how serious was the storm surge. Same story - how do you clean with no water? Plus she has three kids, all under the age of 7, and a husband stuck in Trinidad. She pulled a sodden recliner out into the yard today and discovered a live blue crab on the floor underneath the chair.

My brother lives maybe four miles from the beach in Ocean Springs and water made it to his door but not inside. I'm still unable to wrap my brain around the Gulf of Mexico in his yard.

Camille was our benchmark, or so we thought.

Anyway, happily, they are all healthy and have a roof over their heads, which is something many, many families are unable to say tonight.

Kudos to Larry indeed...This whole thing has been insane! My wife and I go to NOLA whenever we can afford it, but the city is never going to be the same...This has to be the worst natural disaster ever. Pray for the people y'all! Help if you can.

Jack, glad to hear your family fared better than those hardest hit in the area - it is absolutely an unimaginable ordeal.

When tragedy strikes so close to home it certainly puts things in perspective and provides the rest of us a serious reality check - like recognizing what's really important and reminding us to be thankful for what we have.

You need to visit the pit and read some of the threads over there. I sent NOLAbass some coins to help him help others when he goes back on Monday. These people need all we can afford to give. Tim's (westport) story of his efforts are just amazing. We need as many Tim's involved in this as we can get. What I'm doing pales in comparison.

My wife and I have already donated to Red Cross and will probably do so again as this progresses. I hope we see many more putting their money where their mouthes are...literally.

The Texas Methodist Conference canceled upcoming seminars at our campground and have opened it up to house several hundred people, plus here in Daingerfield the Ministerial Alliance is sponsoring "Operation Good Samaritan" a gospel music festival, etc. with groups and individuals donating their time to sing. The High school has given us permission to use the auditorium. All funds will be given to our local Red Cross in order to help those coming to our area and also in the hurricane areas.
We are catching a huge influx of people since we are only 80 miles from La. border.

One idea is to bus all the evacuees to crawford texas. Bet that would get the federal government's attention.


Things look a bit better today. The organization of all this must be an absolute logistical nightmare.
