Just in case you haven't been over to the guitar forum and learnt the sad news - that great innovator Dr. Jim Marshall has died. He will be sorely missed.

In all my years of playing, I've never owned a Marshall, but i've certainly shared enough stages with them. Rest in peace Jim.

Gigging in a very small pub I'd borrowed a Marshall 150 W 15" combo amp because my own rig was too big. Very cool cat, that amp. What did I want to say? R.I.P. Mr. Jim, Sir and have an ear for the folks up there from the greatest band!

Very sad news. This guy was at the heart of the British rock and blues industry, especially for guitarists from the mid 60s onwards, and thus phenominally important in shaping the music - you'd be hard pressed to name any hall of fame guitarist of the time who didn't have a Marshall stack.......or two.......or three. Like Keko, I had one of his heads as my first bass amp.

Thanks Jim, I used your gear for thousands of shows, and whilst it was never the coolest, or hippest gear about, night after night, it just worked. And as a musician, thats what counts.

Baddest @$$ stack I ever had was my Ampeg V4B into 2 Marshall 2x15 (one red and ported). Bigger than a VW and weighed about as much. Thanks, Jim. R.I.P.
