Hello, everyone!

I want to tune down my Majesty 6 string guitar to Drop B with Ernieball ''Not Even Slinky''. 12-56 string gauge I understand that there are appropriate tools for enlarging the nut for each string gauge in order to accommodate a 12-56 string set, but what about depth? I know it's quite critical because if the luthier does it incorrectly, numerous problems may arise, such as tuning stability and fret buzz in the initial few frets, so what are your pieces of advice?

1- What is your suggestion, and do you know the proper depth for 12-56 string gauge?
2- Should I skip the depth cut when I want to send the guitar to my luthier?
3- Does the factory depth set for 10-46 also work for 12-56?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

The string height at the nut doesn't have to be different for different strings. Your luthier may only have to make the existing slots wider to accommodate the larger strings, not make them significantly deeper. The only real thing that can go wrong is the slots go too low which will cause the open unfretted strings to buzz against the 1st fret. But that will not affect anything else and can be corrected. I could go into a longer post about why and how to do it, but there is no real need until you are ready to buy the tools and learn yourself. You can trust your luthier to do it correctly. You are paying them for their expertise. If you don't trust them, find a better luthier. :) (y)
