Hello!

I need some help. I want to know, which strings you recommended to me if I play in drop C and play music like Foo Fighters, Creed, Breaking Benjamin and stuff like that. My band we'll go to studio soon and I want to have really good strings. I have 4 string bass.

Thank you for your answers!

Hey man,

I would recommend a set of Heavy gauge strings for that. The lowest sounding string should be a .110 and it shouldnt be floppy.

Hey I'm speaking from experience playing ninety nine percent of the time in low c. I use a 105 E string usually and have tried bigger gauges without the sound I want. Personally I found the bigger E strings too flubbery and lacked any definition at all. I put slightly heavier D and G strings on (i think 50 and 70 respectively). Have had good results with EB reg coated slinkys - medium gauge. It really depends what you're trying to achieve and how you're set up. If you want the low low bottom end, get a fiver... but if you want the tone you get from the drop tuning (ie QOTSA etc), then try the reg slinks in medium. You can also get specially designed drop tuning strings but I've yet to hear anyone raving about those and they're not EB so they're probably crap anyway. But...if you don't set the guitar up to deal with the tuning, then you are smashing your head against a brick wall as you'll never be happy. Some trussrod and intonation adjustments will probably be needed. Just my 2 cents...btw, if you're really into the Foos, you will find Nate uses Boomers .45-105. I think you'll also find that he tunes pretty close to standard. Hes not tuned to drop c. Except stacked actors which is actually a dropped A. Just saying. Good luck
