Hello, two days ago my wife had an accident with her vehicle (a lorry hit her from behind) and she is fine.
The thing is that my instruments were in the boot, among them the red Musicman 30th anniversary 4-string Musicman. And a Fender Jazz bass V Olimpyc white.
I haven't seen the instruments yet, as the vehicle is at the police station and they have not yet brought it from Madrid to the place where I live (Cadiz, Spain).
I am investigating the different scenarios that may arise. One, that the instrument is "repairable" (we know it will never be the same, but let's say it can be "repaired". This I can check with a luthier, asking him for an estimate of the repair.
In the second case, that the instruments are destroyed. I have written to both Fender and Musicman to get a price quote according to the serial number. I understand that this is possible, and I would need it for a possible lawsuit against the company.
I have searched for market price of the Musicman 30th 4 string and have not found any listings.
Do you know if I can get the value of the instrument from the serial number?

thanks

Can’t get the value from its serial number but you can check sold listings on reverb, which is gonna be close to market value on it. Fwiw guitars retain their value pretty well, and I’d imagine that the 30th would cost close to what you paid for it marked up for inflation. The one I see listed is at 2000! 3eq single H’s have very stable value and don’t really change much. My 4h 3eq is worth 300 dollars more than I paid for it in 2005!

Hoping they survived!

The serial number won't help, but EBMM only made around 700 of the 30th Anniversary SR4s, so it's not hard to estimate value based on recent transactions. Look at the TalkBass classifieds and Reverb. I see several on TB that have sold in the past couple years for 1600-1800. I bought mine new in 2006 for 1750 and sold it in 2019 for 1600, IIRC. With recent inflation I'd guess the value for a 30th Anniversary SR4 in good shape would be at the high end of that range.

Sad news based on USA pricing is that the red 30th anniversary model never attained a special value. It sells for the same as any normal model or 10 to 20% more at most.
