Ok, this'll probably sound nuts but here goes..

A couple of times I've accidentally stepped on the guitar cable and pulled the jack half out... and really dug the sound! (Yes, I know to wrap the cable around the strap/button but sometimes I get lazy) Aside from a little hum, and knowing it's not supposed to be played like that, it got a really nice compressed edge to the tone, vintage straty kinda thing.

Two questions:
Do I need to see a shrink?
And, is there a safe and proper way to do this with the jack fully in, i.e. wiring?

Maybe the shrink knows.

Or, maybe it's a phase thingy. There's something similar with the switch caught between pos. 1 and 2, but with the jack half out it had that same type of effect across all positions. Tonight I didn't know what happened, and I was so into the tone that I just kept playing and playing, SRV type stuff. Wasn't till I stopped that I dared to find out what was wrong that made it right. At first I thought I was losing a premap tube or cap or something. Then it was "ah hah, it's the jack, fool!"

Hi Bruce,
maybe you can play around with the wiring inside the output jack on the body .. but i don't know

because, now i have trouble with the wiring inside the output jack in my guitar body, so sometimes the sound keeps changing if i move the cable..

good luck Bruce,
abraham

ow, one more thing, i think all of us in this forum need to go to a shrink since we can't get our balls out of our mind :D:D..

Tim, yes, I suspect you're right. No, not my ideal sound either, but it is another sound, and I guess because of my settings, it's got it's own cool vibe, especially on the single coils.

Sure it was an accident??? I kinda think you planned it that way. That way you're in the same group as the "other" great inventors of our time. Yeah, I really think you planned this all in advance.

What other "accidental" things have you done with your guitar/cable, etc. . . ?????

Bruce,

You could just let me have at the output jack with a soldering iron. A few cold solder joints might replicate the situation! ;)

Yes! And while you're at it, maybe you can dremel gouges into the neck, make it all relic looking and sh*t. :D
