My ASS has a bad piezo saddle and I'm having a heck of a time finding a replacement. Only half of the piezo element produces a sound so I have to push the string as far to the "good" side as possible to get a sound... but as soon as I bend the string it dies out. My ASS is a '99 so it's got an early version of the saddles/preamp and EBMM stopped using that version a long time ago. I contacted CS and was told they don't have any spare parts and I can't justify the cost to replace the whole system with what they currently offer. I contacted Pete @DubaldoMusic and he doesn't have any spare saddles either. I've sprayed the saddle with DeOxit and it initially went from 90% dead to 50% dead, but it never improved beyond that.

So I'm reaching out to the forum to see if anyone has (or knows of) some of the old piezo saddles laying around. From what I know, there are differences in output of the saddles over the years so there's no guarantee that every "old" saddle will be the same. This ain't fun y'all.

Thanks!

Texas Finally!
Glenn, JB did you not read his full post. He has already reached out to CS and Pete, they do not have replacments. Wish I could help but no idea who might have what you need.

Keith your right I hadn't read the whole thing, busy morning. Well you could spring for a set and then sell them off as onesies, I've seen others before looking for just one saddle.

It's not that simple. The output of the saddles is matched to the preamp. Using new saddles with an old preamp will result in a lower piezo output (already confirmed).

Man, that stinks. Out of curiousity, did they tell you when the stopped using the old preamp, and what replacing the whole works would cost?

2013-ish is when CS said they redesigned the preamp/saddle system in the Axis. The newest system would run $300 in parts (installation labor is extra).

Since I've got an 08 Petrucci coming in, with its older setup, if it goes bad I'm out of luck unless I send it in and have the preamp and saddles replaced?

Am I understanding that right? I'll give CS a call tomorrow, but that's less than ideal if true.
