I'm another one of those all-flats people, but I like higher tension flats. TIs feel like rubber bands for me. Give me tension and thump!

Fender 9050Ms have been my standard for a few years now, but they don't make a low B. I tried GHS on my SR5, and they're OK.

I put a new set of EB Group I flats on my Bongo within a few hours of arrival. They're starting to settle down a little, and I'm happy to find that (to this tin ear, anyway) they have much the same character as my beloved 9050Ms would have with the same amount of time on them. We'll see how they do as they age - hopefully they'll get that creamy dark thumpiness that I crave.

I think I'll start keeping a few sets of these on the shelf!

Thanks I have been wondering how close they would be to the 9050s.

I am pretty sold on TI but plan on something different on my next EB bass. I now think I know.

I've got Chomes on my Sterling and love them... I plan on using the TIs on my fretless Bongo to fully exploit the fretless vibe...

The tension on these two sets are significantly different:

Chromes - ECB81
E .100 38.4lbs.
A .080 43.7lbs.
D .065 52.0lbs
G .045 45.7lbs.

TI Jazz Bass - JF344
E .100 34.39lbs
A .070 31.30lbs.
D .056 37.47lbs.
G .043 37.03lbs

I sell the poop outta TI flats for years now but don't personally play them all that much. I generally play the Roto RS77LD's when I play flats. I've never tried a set of EB flats but will do so soon.

TI's too slack for my taste, so I've gone with Chromes for my flats bass. My string guy now carries the EB's, I believe, so they're next on the try list.
