Oh sure, Jon, I never meant to play it down, etc. What I mean is this:
-the '99 quake, I felt it underneath my feet (there was kind of a rolling, wave-like motion going across the ground). I also noticed that it did move the ground enough to make my chandelier slightly swing in the direction of the motion, etc. Now mind you, this was not house-shaking, OMG, head for the doorway type action, but it was enough to get my attention (I guess that's the "ho-hum" that I was getting at...you sense an earthquake, but it isn't shakin' your world up!

)
-then you have your general/typical movie type earthquake, and what you talked about, ie. house shaking, pictures rattling, falling, etc. etc. -- one that you KNOW is occurring. Seems like that was obvoiusly what you were feeling. I know to be 40-70 miles away from the epicenter, you had to feel something, obviously, just wasn't sure of the magnitude or how badly things were gettin' rocked around there.
Yeah, man...like I said, I've never been in one or in a region where they can occur, hence not knowing much about them, etc. Call me weird, but I actually have that on my "to-do" list in life to experience one. Just to know, to experience the power of Mother Nature, and to pretty much gain more respect that even though we abuse her at times, she can still whoop our ass.
No matter what, glad that all is OK over there in EBMM land.
