Hi all, I'm new to the forum site, but hope to read and post alot. My question is, I recently bought an Earthwood bass (Standard-version body, which is 24 1/2" long, 18 1/4" wide, and 6 5/8" deep) at local music shop. I hadn't seen one since 1979 when I was 15-16 years old. Any way it's #816 which I found inside the body on the neck. I found very little on Earthwoods on the internet. I want to know when it was made, and if anyone has any addiional info. The guy at the shop said it was on consignment for 6 months for $850.00 and it came with a soft case. The shop owner stated a woman brought the bass in to sell after her husband had put into her closet to store it (he was the original owner) I guess he just stopped playing it. Sucks for him, I never stumble onto deals like this, I'll post pics later......Steve

1. I want to know when it was made and how many where made?
2. Whats it worth?
3. Any additional info.(catalogs, news letters, etc.)
4. Any website just for the Earthwood Acoustic bass?

While killing some time before my buddy's wedding that started at 5 pm
I checked out of the hotel and chanced asked the service
manager if there were any music stores in the area. She showed me on the map the location of
music shop off of A1A on Anastasia Island. It was a rainy day and I wasn’t real sure of the
area and when I went over the bridge onto the island I figured everything would be very expensive
I went into the small shop and the first instrument I saw was the Earthwood, and I instantly knew
what it was and became very excited.
I thought about and thought o myself I have 14 basses already my wife will skin me lol. So I
weighted the pros vs. cons and passed on it, even though I knew it was very rare
and the last time I saw one was in Thoroughbred Music on Nebraska ave in Tampa around 1978-
1979. So I went to the wedding (very nice) and drove home thinking about the bass the entire trip.
When I got home on 24 May 2009 around 5 pm and moped a little my wife said lets go to St Augustine to go and get it. We
packed light for one night and got there late, we stayed at the Hampton Inn on Vilano beach very
nice. I wasn’t sure if the store would be open since it was Memorial Day but I had take a chance
anyway. I went there around 2 pm and paid and picked up the bass later that day around
4 pm when I came in to pick up the bass they gave me a Ernie ball t-shirt. The owner told me he
was sad to see it go since it had been there on consignment for around six months. He said that a
bought the bass years ago and hadn’t played it for a long time and had put the bass in his wife’s
closet. She didn’t like that a bit so she place it for sale at a local music store and told him she
didn’t care if it sold, she didn’t want it back in her closet.

Thanks you for any help you can give me on my questions, I think now since there is limited information on these basses it makes me more determined to soak in as much of the little known stuff. It's truely one of the jewels in my collection, which I hope to pass on for generations to come.
